Just seen Avatar
We went to see Avatar today, in 3D. Don't want to spoil this film by saying too mutch, in case some of you are planning an imminent visit. I'll just say, for now, that its well worth watching. Go for the 3D version! It's well worth the little bit extra cost. You are taken to a new sensory level with the combination of superb sound and vision.

RE: Just seen Avatar
Just when I think it couldn't get any better, you tell me you've seen it on IMAX. I'm green with envy.

RE: Just seen Avatar
it was absolutley fantastic. The 3D on the imax was just astounding, i have never seen effects like it, the beginning of a new era me thinks.

RE: Just seen Avatar
I think this was another one of those 'spot the influence of other films' experiences, as well. The bad guy sitting inside the machine and wielding those huge arms reminded me of a bit from Aliens, and I wouldn't have been too surprised if he had started shouting, 'I love the smell of napalm in the morning', as he directed the invasion. And what about the mystical stuff? Maybe a touch of Starwars: everything being connected, as in 'The Force'.Smile

RE: Just seen Avatar
a bit of the best bits of all sci-fi i think.... no one can deny the story is standard fare, but its held together well by its pace and obviously stunning visuals...

RE: Just seen Avatar
my son (9yrs old) loved it, and it was the first big sci-fi film i have took him along to, the 3d was stunning, but i hope that there is enough in the pipeline to satisfy demand, as there has been nothing much at the imax down the road (its a new one)
