The Gruffalo
Since i have two kids i have invariably got into the young kids books, and the Julia Donaldson book - the gruffalo is excellent.

Originally we had this bought for us for my eldest about 3 / 4 yrs ago i think and it was one of this favourite books.

Now the youngest (2 yrs) is loving this book as well.

It is structured perfects, and has a perfect balance of rhyming and repetitive verse to really stick in the head of the child, and for me one of the best books i have had for both my boys.

I think "A squash and a Squeeze" is not too far behind either and this is by the same author.....

I loved this book as a child myself and still do. I dont have kids but all my nieces and nephews have read and loved it too.

A QUOTE
What is REAL?" asked the Rabbit one day, when they were lying side by side near the nursery fender, before Nana came to tidy the room. "Does it mean having things that buzz inside you and a stick-out handle?"

"Real isn't how you are made," said the Skin Horse. "It's a thing that happens to you. When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but Really loves you, then you become Real."

"Does it hurt?" asked the Rabbit.

"Sometimes," said the Skin Horse, for he was always truthful. "When you are Real you don't mind being hurt."

"Does it happen all at once, like being wound up," he asked, "or bit by bit?"

"It doesn't happen all at once," said the Skin Horse. "You become. It takes a long time. That's why it doesn't happen often to people who break easily, or have sharp edges, or who have to be carefully kept. Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get all loose in the joints and very shabby. But these things don't matter at all, because once you are Real you can't be ugly, except to people who don't understand."

RE: The Gruffalo
Love, Love, Love this book. I really enjoy reading this to my little girl. Although she only wants to hear Snow White. :-( I cannot wait until my baby gets older and I can read it to her as well.

From the moment I picked your book up until I laid it down I was convulsed with laughter. Some day I intend reading it.
